Sure, there are plenty of motivational quotes out there that I can put here to inspire teachers. Such as:
“Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear” ~Twain
“Freedom lies in being bold.” ~Frost
“What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything?” ~Van Gogh
“All I need are some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I’m fine.” ~Spicoli
However, this describes what I feel right now:
Teachers, HELP me Help You. And that’s putting it mildly. I may alienate some of you, but it’s about to get real all up in here. So, I ask you:
How many Peaceful Protests have you attended?
How many house parties have you been to or hosted?
How many parents have you actually talked to about your situation?
You say you are scared. Talk to an attorney or your union representative to find out your legal rights as a public employee. But for the sake of the kids — my kids, your kids, your students — speak up, DO something!
If you don’t like the way things are going in the District now, how do you think it will be next year? Do you think the Diane Ravitch fairy is just going to show up, wave her magic wand and everything will be wonderful again in Douglas County?
Hey, if you don’t care enough to make that extra effort for you and your students, then why should I care? My kids are outta this district in 5 years…heck, I could take them to Littleton Public Schools tomorrow! But I choose to fight for DCSD because it used to be great, and I think we can get back there. But if you, the teachers, can’t be bothered to take any real action…screw it, I can think of a million other things I could be doing right now.
I’m begging you – help me help you help the kids of Douglas County.
